Mystery Boy

Well we are here at the Huntsman's Cancer Institute, admitted into the hospital. Josh has been extremely weak. If he walks five feet his heart is pounding, he's breathing really hard and he feels like he just ran a football field. When he's on his feet he is light headed, dizzy, and it's hard for him to keep steady and not fall. With all his symptoms, high fevers, mouth sores, extremely weak, coughing, we decided we better call our nurse. We were told to get down there as soon as we could. We decided to leave the next morning and he woke up feeling even weaker and also had blurred/doubled vision. He was very pale. They are nervous about his blurred vision.
Now that we are here they have ran lots of tests including, a chest x-ray, a cat scan, a brain MRI, an EKG. He has had six bags of blood transfusions. The chest x-ray showed that there is some sort of infection or fluid in his lungs. Right now they are treating him for pneumonia and fungus. He is on a bunch of antibiotics and antiviral medication. They are going to do a spinal tap to take a sample of spinal fluid checking for cancer cells, or viral infectious cells. They also want to put a tube with a camera on the end of it down his nose into his lungs and then biopsy what is going on in the lungs.
He's been poked a lot today and he's feeling pretty miserable.  He has had high fevers. Highest was 107.7 Last time he was in the hospital he got up to 109!
They are concerned about his super low blood pressure and oxygen level.
They moved him to the ICU so that he could have more attention from the nurses.
They call him the "mystery patient" because every test comes back negative! It's frustrating for everyone that we aren't getting answers for what is causing all his symptoms.

The brain MRI came back looking good. No big masses or tumors. The spinal fluid was also clear of cancer cells. So they think he has an infection, they are just trying to figure out exactly what it is and what is causing it. We are thankful they are being so cautious.

Grandma and Grandpa Blacker drove all the way here to see Josh! Tonight is New Years Eve!
Josh just woke up from them putting the tube down his nose to look in his lungs. He was pretty sedated. It is 6 tonight and he woke up thinking it was 6 in the morning! He's doing good, happy to get to sip some juice and eat some jello!

This picture was taken Monday night not very many hours before Josh's heart rate went crazy and they had to take him to the higher ICU, where they put in a ventilator, feeding tube, and catheter. He already had a pic line as well from a day or so prior.
